Mission & Purpose
The mission of Dr. Frederick Douglass Todd Sr. Middle School is to build a learning community of lifelong leaders, innovators, and positive contributors that believe Excellence is not only the goal but the standard!
Opened in 1958 and located in the heart of Oak Cliff, Todd Middle School (formerly Sarah Zumwalt Middle School) is one of the original flagship schools of the Dallas Independent School District. Currently, 36 teachers serve 446 students in grades 6-8 and work to ensure that students master the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.
There are several significant components that contribute to student success at Todd Middle School. Teachers work collaboratively to provide a challenging curriculum and effective instructional programs for students. They have common collaborative planning periods and use structured teacher planning time to conduct intensive data analysis of standardized tests and common local assessments. Teachers are able to succinctly identify areas of deficiency and design comprehensive lessons that serve to improve student achievement.
